What is Boo-wah?

Boo-wah is a blog that seeks to find information about the history of steel guitar through digital media (like websites and blogging) that previously would have been impossible. For example: getting readers to identify people and stories from old pictures found online.

The word boo-wah (also called wah-wah, or doo-wah) is a term and onomonopia used to describe a specific steel guitar effect popularized in country music from the 1940s and 1950s. The technical effect of boo-wah is a rapid tone shift or a combination of a tone shift and pitch shift through the electronic components of the steel guitar or tone/volume pedal and its amplifier.
